Rochelle brings with her a lifetime of fitness and wellness experience and enthusiasm as well as a long familial lineage of teachers and spiritual leaders to the Madrona House. She has been a classroom teacher for over two decades, and within that time a fine artist, yogi, fitness and yoga instructor and healer. She believes that exploring a variety of modalities, finding balance between rigor and rest, ensuring safe and effective anatomical alignment, and embracing the beautiful duplicity of grounding and opening serves the body, mind and spirit most profoundly.
Rochelle knows the softer side of wellness to be incredibly powerful, nourishing and beautiful. She believes that as we learn to embrace and hold curiosity for our energy centers (or chakras) and dive into the experience of our subtle bodies, transformation and healing can truly begin within our very essence. For it is in the space between our inhales and exhales, our lives’ relentless activity and stillness, sleep and wakefulness, our physical selves and the infinite that we may begin to deeply understand and express who we really are, to yoke, connect, release, ignite, soothe, and to heal.
Through intuitive guidance and gentle touch Rochelle enables a sweet indulgence to rest, rejuvenate and slip into a deep meditative state of awareness for awakening into healing of the mind, body and energy centers. Rochelle believes that the ultimate healing occurs within and for each client, and therefore sees her role a facilitator and guide. Each of her sessions begin with grounding movements pulled from Kundalini, Qi Gong and other practices, so that each client may begin to sense and awaken their own energy bodies and set intentions.
In an intimate setting of up to four yogis Rochelle positions each individual into deeply relaxing reclining yoga poses using blocks, bolsters, blankets, pillows and scarves to remove all tension in the physical body. This practice thereby engages the parasympathetic nervous system so that the yogi may slip into a meditative state of being, finding rest and rejuvenation within the body, mind and spirit. Because her Restorative Yoga sessions are essentially semi-private each yogi is given individualized care and attention so that each of the handful of positions are set “just-so” for ultimate rest.
*Please wear comfortable un-restricting clothing and feel free to bring a personal eye pillow, scarf, blanket or any other props. Yoga mats, blocks, bolsters and blankets are provided.
